After two years of partnering with Help End Local Poverty and local Haitian pastors for renewal in Haiti, we are excited to take a short-term team to Haiti this June!! Up to this point we've all seen photos, heard stories and watched videos of homes we've helped build, children we've sponsored, the kids home we helped with and countless other blessings along the way.

Well now it's your turn! Your chance to see it happening, to help build homes, play with the children, experience first hand the blessing of your generosity and presence, and an opportunity to be encouraged in meeting some of the most beautifully faithful people you will ever meet.

The trip is June 4-11 and the trip cost is $2100. You can apply on the HELP website if you would like to go. If you would like to read more about the trip or have questions you can check out the HELP June 4-11 Trip Page. If you are freaking out about $2100, please don't. Pray, ask God if He is calling you to go. If He is calling you to go on this trip, then start asking what you need to do to make it happen. Adjust your own finances, drastically for a few months if you have to. And then prayerfully consider who you could ask to financially support you on this trip. Friends, family, whoever. Don't freak out. Pray. You can do this.

Tentative Payment schedule:

  • $100 is due at the time of application
  • $800 is due April 18th
  • $600 due May 6th
  • $600 due May 21st
  • Total cost: $2,100

The goal is to have everyone's payments in by 2 weeks before travel. Once you apply, you will get an email from HELP about the trip and a payment plan. You will also receive an individual PayPal link for fundraising. This trip is considered a pilgrimage trip, which means you will be participating in child sponsorship activities (gathering information for profile updates, taking new pictures of the kids, helping the kids write letters to their sponsors, etc) and 2-3 days will be spent building a home for a local family. You will visit the largest Tent City in Haiti and join them in an evening church service and on Sunday, you will attend church with one of HELP’s key leaders, followed by a Haitian lunch and shopping at a local market.

Please prayerfully considering joining others in the Soma Austin community on this trip. It will be a blessing to both you, our Haitian friends and to our church community.
